Biochar Standards and Certificates
Welcome to our Biochar Standards and Certificates hub, guidelines for sustainable biochar production and CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs). Here, you'll find comprehensive resources and support for adhering to internationally recognized standards, ensuring environmental integrity and access to global carbon markets.
For Carbon Credits
Here are links to the main biochar standards and certification bodies involved in carbon credits:
for every UNIT of Biochar, the conversion ratio is about 2.3 (minimum) Carbon Dioxide Removals (CDR) or CO2 Removal Certificates (CORCs). It means for one tonne of biochar produced, the CDR or CORCs is about 2.3 tonnes. @ USD 100 for every CDR or CORC, or one tonne of biochar applied to soil - the value in INR is Rs. 18,400/- (This excluding the percentages or charges by agencies and costs involved in the process of getting the credit). The value of putting one kg of biochar in soil is about Rs 18, that one gets. This is the reason why biochar under the carbon credits is being sold at a discounted price to the farmers. (The prices may vary, the above analysis is based on me own analysis)
