This workshop provides a comprehensive understanding of biochar, its production, applications, and impact on climate change mitigation. Over three days, participants will delve into the theory and practice of biochar production, including its purpose, traditional usage, and contemporary applications. Through a combination of lectures, hands-on activities, and fieldwork, attendees will gain practical skills and knowledge to effectively implement biochar practices in various contexts.
Gain a comprehensive understanding of water management concepts, terminology, principles, and strategies.
Master the process of observing, analyzing, and designing sites for effective water management.
Develop the ability to assess site-specific needs and evaluate potential water management strategies, with a particular emphasis on water harvesting, storage, and landscape hydration.
Acquire knowledge of both passive and active water management methods.
Engage in practical fieldwork, including site assessments for water harvesting, contour mapping, and utilizing various tools such as A-frames, water levels, and Dumpy levels. Hands-on experience with earthworks tools like JCB for excavating percolation tanks or farm ponds will also be provided. Additionally, learn about planting systems optimized for earthworks.
Learn to calculate water availability, consumption rates, and appropriate siting and sizing considerations.
Design a comprehensive water management system to a specific site’s requirements.
